Here are the reading text, target skills, vocabulary words, writing prompt, and assessment prompt that my students will accomplish.
Lesson 3: "Helping with Houses" Genre: Informational
Summary of the text:
The author traces the history of habitat for humanity from its origins in rural Georgia to the international organization it has become.
Vocabulary Center: Write a complete sentence using each vocabulary words. Underline the predicate and circle the subject in each sentence.
Writing Center:
Think about the question below. Then write your answer in one or two paragraphs.
On page 4, the author writes that the idea for partnership housing “was a simple one.” This simple idea helped many people. What idea do you have that might help a lot of people? Would any ideas from Habitat for Humanity help you? Use examples from the text to explain your idea.
Comprehension Center: Answer the following questions:
