Selection Summary: A boy shows readers his family pictures which include pictures of his parents, and his sister and brother.
Target Skills: Concepts of Print - Reading left to write, and top to bottom.
Main Idea - The main idea is what the book is mostly about.
Language Skill: The students will identify how to read a book correctly, and explain orally the big idea of the texts.
Phonics:
• Clap the Syllables Have children hear and say syllables in words from the book: my, family, mother, look, father, at, brother, sister. Then have them clap on each syllable: my; fam-i-ly; moth-er; look; fa-ther; at; broth-er; sis-ter.
• Match Letters Materials: upper and lowercase magnetic or cardboard letters or letter cards. Have children choose letters and match them with their upper or lowercase form.
